When Saira Franklin and Adrian Rickard first sat down to discuss their idea of running a business together, little did they realise just how perfect their blend of professional skills would be.

Since then, Saira and Adrian have successfully launched Mini First Aid Plymouth, offering first aid classes for all the family.

With proven experience as both a Water Babies and ice-skating instructor, Saira loves working with young children and connecting with families. Adrian has previously run his own business and has over ten years work experience within the leisure industry. Both of them have dealt with numerous first aid situations at work. Saira says:

“Having both worked at Plymouth Ice Rink, Adrian and I have been involved in many first aid situations, ranging from broken arms and chopped fingertips to shock and even a stabbing. It was definitely an eye-opener and there is not much we haven't seen!” 

Having lived in Plymouth all their lives, Saira and Adrian are keen to take Mini First Aid classes to all sorts of venues across the city and local area. With a 2 year old daughter Callie, both Saira and Adrian are well used to dealing with minor injuries such as scrapes and bumps.

Adrian says:

“Mini First Aid has given us the chance to do something worthwhile whilst allowing us both the flexibility to enjoy more time with our daughter. Being able to teach people skills that will stay with them for life is a real privilege. Although we hope no one ever has to use the skills, it is much better to know what to do and not need it, than to find yourself needing the skills and not knowing them.”

Saira and Adrian offer an extensive range of first aid classes ranging from classes for parents and carers, to the full first aid qualification courses. They also plan to run kids classes for children in early years and primary school settings.

Mini First Aid Plymouth offers 2 hour baby & toddler first aid classes for small groups of parents and carers. Classes are informal but informative and cover choking, basic life support, dealing with burns, breaks and bumps, febrile seizures & meningitis awareness. A class costs £20 per person.
