Frankie Buzer from Southend-on-Sea hit the ground running when she launched Mini First Aid South Essex.  She was so successful that within a matter of weeks, she had recruited her very own Mum as an additional first aid trainer!

Frankie was inspired to set up her own First Aid franchise following a scary incident when her son, Jasper was taken to hospital with suspected sepsis at six months old. She describes what happened:

“Jasper had been poorly with a high temperature and had a red rash around his mouth. We took him to the doctor who reassured us it was nothing serious. Not long afterwards, Jasper started being sick. He had blood in his vomit and became floppy and lethargic so I called an ambulance. In hospital, Jasper was treated for sepsis but tests thankfully came back clear. His body had reacted in this way due to a high temperature. I managed to stay calm throughout, but deep down I really didn’t know what I was doing. I decided to do something about that.”

As a result of her experience, Frankie believes first aid is a life skill which everyone must learn. She says:

“I think everybody should know first aid and I can’t believe that is not a requirement by law! When it comes to our children, we never want to think anything bad will happen, so it can be extremely scary in an emergency situation if you don’t know what to do. I wish I could shout from the rooftops about how important learning first aid is.”

Following a demanding 10-year career in the retail industry, Frankie is using her skills to build her business right across South Essex. This time, she can do it on her own terms, fitting a successful business around her young family.

But Frankie’s not stopping there…

As well as offering classes for parents and carers, Frankie offers Early Years and Kids’ Mini First Aid classes in pre-schools, schools and holiday club settings.

Mini First Aid offers 2-hour baby & toddler first aid classes for small groups of parents and carers. Classes are informal but informative and cover choking, basic life support, dealing with burns, breaks and bumps, febrile seizures & meningitis awareness. A class costs from £20 per person.
